Clean Energy Working Group

The production and use of energy accounts for more than 75% of the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Decarbonising existing energy generation and improving energy efficiency is critical to achieving the ambitions of the Green Deal, and will need new approaches and innovative technologies.

The Clean Energy working group

The Clean Energy working group comprises 16 projects from five different Green Deal Calls. The working group projects focus on energy decarbonisation through the development and deployment of innovative technologies, in particular, renewable energy solutions and their integration into the current energy system.

As part of the working group, the projects will tackle challenges such as:

  • Large-scale hydrogen production
  • Conversion of CO2 emissions from industrial processes into synthetic fuels
  • Development of land-based renewable energy technologies and offshore renewable energy innovations.
