On 18 December 2024, experts and stakeholders convened at the Madrid Planetarium for a roundtable on wildfire management, hosted by Airbus Defence and Space. The event addressed the rising threat of wildfires driven by climate change, focusing on prevention, detection, suppression, recovery, and the role of technology.
Pau Brunet, representing FIRE-RES, showcased innovative solutions such as drones, artificial intelligence, and data sharing to foster wildfire resilience across European landscapes. Airbus, a project beneficiary, highlighted its work on Innovation Action 5.6, simulating the use of High Altitude Pseudo Satellites for wildfire management. Other notable speakers included representatives from CEREN, Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition, and Airbus Defence and Space.
