Dr. Paul Jepson is Head of Innovation and Science at CreditNature Ltd where he leads work on the development of new ecosystem analytics and nature impact tokens to ‘unlock’ nature positive investment. He has 40-years’ experience in international nature conservation research, policy and practice, formerly directed Oxford University’s MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation Management and held Senior Research fellowships at the Said Business School and Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. He is author of ‘Rewilding: the radical new science of ecological recovery’.
In this webinar, Paul will outline progress on efforts to create markets for nature recovery. He will introduce a Nature Impact Token being developed by CreditNature which is underpinned by a new framework for benchmarking and forecasting ecosystem integrity. The design of nature markets is becoming closely linked with advances in DLT technologies: Nature Impact Tokens are a digital asset constructed from smart contracts linked to different types of data. These emerging digital standards connect finance with science and Paul will open a discussion on how to ensure advances in freshwater science is integrated into emerging markets for biodiversity credits and nature impact tokens.
