Over the first quarter of this year, the European Commission has published three results packs of research projects contributing to the EU Mission ’Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030’.

The results packs focus on three lines of research: algae innovation, ocean observing and ocean plastic pollution.

Diving deeper: Propelling Ocean knowledge and its sustainable management’ pack relates to Mission Ocean’s Enabler 1: Digital Ocean and Water knowledge System. Highlighting 13 EU-funded research projects in ocean observing, the results pack showcases the essential role of research in the sustainable management of the ocean. Find the results pack here.

Tackling marine litter from source to sea’ pack showcases results of the Mission Ocean’s Objective 2: Prevent and eliminate polution. It highlights 12 EU-funded Horizon projects that are helping to clean up aquatic ecosystems, paving the way to a thriving ocean. Find the results pack here.

Algae innovation: Sustainable alternatives emerging from European seas and waters’ pack corresponds to Mission Ocean’s Objective 3: Make the sustainable blue economy carbon-neutral and circular. The pack focuses on 11 EU-funded projects that demonstrate the potential and versatility of algae production and conversion. Find the results pack here.

The three results packs compliment the CORDIS pack published last year on ‘Reducing and preventing drivers of marine biodiversity loss’. The report is in line with Mission Ocean’s Objective 1: Protect and restore marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity.

CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, is the European Commission's primary source of results from the projects funded by the EU's framework programmes for research and innovation, from FP1 to Horizon Europe. Its mission is to bring research results to professionals in the field to foster open science, create innovative products and services and stimulate growth across Europe. Learn more here.
