Support for the Protection and Restoration of Biodiversity and Marine Ecosystems – Autonomous Region of Madeira

This call aims to support the achievement of environmental protection objectives, namely ensuring the ‘Good Environmental Status’ (GES) of the marine environment in accordance with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), and promoting the protection, restoration, and monitoring of ecosystems aimed at adopting measures for the conservation and sustainable management of marine biodiversity and maintaining ecosystem services. 

Objectives: 

• Reduce negative impacts and/or contribute to the positive impacts on the marine environment and for Good Environmental Status under the MSFD. 
• Contribute to GES through the implementation and monitoring of marine protected areas, including Natura 2000 areas.  

 Actions supported under this call are detailed in the Project Notice MAR2030-2023-24.  

Eligible applicants:  

• Public scientific or technical organisations 
• Advisory councils established under the Common Fisheries Policy 
• Fishermen 
• Fishermen's organisations, including producer organisations 
• Non-governmental organisations, in partnership with fishermen's organisations. 

Budget:  

The indicative total budget for this notice is EUR 700 000. The EMFAF contribution rate is set at the maximum regulatory level of 70% of the total budget. Refer to the Project Notice for more details.
