Description

REMEDIES is creating innovative solutions and technologies to monitor, collect, prevent and create value from ocean plastics and microplastics. The project’s overall objective is to create a trend of plastic prevention and reach a zero-waste reality.

They want to involve all stakeholders who want to contribute to a plastic-waste free ecosystem, so they have opened their 2nd call for Associated Regions in the Mediterranean. The theme of this second call is ‘Prevention and Zero Waste’.

Objectives:

This call is focused on projects / applications with the main goal of supporting  the development of circular, zero-waste supply chains and systems that will promote the prevention of plastic litter, with focus on ocean and rivers connected directly or indirectly with the Mediterranean.

Successful applicants will showcase the replicability and scale up of the solutions developed within the project. Successful applicants will also receive technical assistance from REMEDIES partners. This assistance includes the provision of technical advisory services to build capacity and to implement solutions on plastic waste prevention and zero waste in their territory. The technical assistance also covers the preparation of roadmaps, plans and projects to prevent, eliminate and remediate pollution in the associated regions addressing possible barriers and showing the feasibility of implementing innovative solutions.

Eligible applicants:

Applicants must be a regional or local organisation in associated regions. Eligible applicants may also include bodies directly representing a regional/local authority (such as regional and/or local agencies, regional planning bodies, regional/local port authorities, etc.) provided that they can play a significant and relevant role in showcasing the feasibility, relevance, replicability and scalability of the solutions developed in the REMEDIES project.

Countries that cannot participate due to being part of the REMEDIES consortium are: Slovenia, Greece, Germany, Croatia, Spain, Belgium, France, Albania, Serbia, Ireland, Morocco and Italy. Applicants from Malta (MT0 Malta) and Portugal Norte (NUTS II) also cannot participate as beneficiaries from the Open Call 1 are from these areas. Please check the guide for applicants for further details.

Budget:

Financial support of up to EUR 100 000 per Associated Region.

Duration:

Associated Regions project implementation to commence on the 1st of July 2024.
