Description of the funding initiative
The Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy Programme will enhance innovation for a more competitive and smarter Greece-Italy area, focusing on green and digital growth, promoting clean and fair energy transition, investment in circular economy, improving equal access to inclusive and quality services in education, training and lifelong learning and enhancing institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders to implement macro regional strategies. Priority Axes and objectives include:
- Smart and Innovation
- Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies
- Reaping the benefits of digitalisation for citizens, companies and governments
- Enhancing growth and competitiveness of SMEs and job creation in SME
- Green and Low carbon
- Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking into account eco-system-based approaches
- Promoting the transition to a circular and resource efficient economy
- Enhancing protection and preservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure, including urban areas, and reducing all forms of pollution
- Tourism, Culture & Social Inclusion
- Improving equal access to inclusive and quality services in education, training and lifelong learning through developing accessible infrastructure, including by fostering resilience for distance and online education and training
- Ensuring equal access to health care and fostering resilience of health systems, including primary care and promoting the transition from institutional to family- and community-based care
- Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation
- Governance
- Enhance the institutional capacity of public authorities, in particular those mandated to manage a specific territory, and all stakeholders
- Enhance institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders to implement macro-regional strategies and sea-basin strategies, as well as other territorial strategies
Overview of eligibility requirements for applicants
The Programme intends to attract new partners and to encourage inter alia the participation of smaller organisations, such as NGOs, the civil society, associations, and small municipalities. Due to the nature of the proposed indicative actions, SMEs shall mainly indirectly benefit from the programme support and no direct support is foreseen.
Eligible areas in Greece are Aitoloakarnania, Achaia, Ileia, Zakynthos, Kerkyra, Kefalonia, Lefkada, Arta, Thesprotia, Ioannina, Preveza. For Italy are: Foggia, Bari, Brindisi, Lecce, Barletta-Andria-Trani (BAT), Taranto, Matera, Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone and Reggio Calabria.
Rules on co-financing
The ERDF will finance up to 75% of the project, so that the remaining 25% must be covered by external contributions.
