Description of the funding initiative
The programme addresses the most important cross-border cooperation challenges along the borders of Greece and Bulgaria in line with the policy objectives of Cohesion policy 2021-2027. The programme will focus on three priorities with subsequent objectives
- A more Resilient and Greener Greece-Bulgaria Cross Border Territory
- Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience taking into account ecosystem-based approaches.
- Promoting the transition to a circular and resource efficient economy.
- Enhancing protection and preservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure, including in urban areas, and reducing all forms of pollution.
- A more Accessible Greece-Bulgaria Cross Border Territory
- Developing and enhancing sustainable, climate resilient, intelligent and intermodal national, regional and local mobility, including improved access to TEN-T and cross-border mobility
- A more Inclusive Greece-Bulgaria Cross Border Territory
- Improving equal access to inclusive and quality services in education, training and lifelong learning through developing accessible infrastructure, including by fostering resilience for distance and on-line education and training
- Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation
Overview of eligibility requirements for applicants
Applicants can be public or private bodies, those governed by public law, SMEs, national, regional and local authorities, universities and research institutions, and non-governmental and non-profit organisations.
Eligible regions in Greece are Evros, Xanthi, Rodopi, Drama, Kavala – Thassos, Thessaloniki, and Serres. For Bulgaria: Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Smolyan, Kardzhali.
Rules on co-financing
There is a co-financing rate of 80%.
