Description of the funding initiative

Ekopolis has grant programmes for the themes of environment, civil society, cities for people, and the uptake of cycling. Via long-term support from corporate partners, beneficiaries include civic associations and initiatives, schools and local government. The projects contribute to more beautiful and better quality public spaces, to hiking trails and to the creation of sites for relaxation and comfort. These projects, implemented at a local level, intensify cooperation between citizens, organizations and local government.

The fund does not solely focus on water-related issues, but historical funding available have covered the theme of water. For example, the Competition for water (with financial support from Nestlé Slovakia) launched the inaugural contest For Water, which sought to connect talented young people with local governments, land owners and others who are looking for inspiration and solutions to address specific water problems in their towns and villages.
