Description of the funding initiative
The Multi Funds Programme ERDF/JTF North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) 2021- 2027 has six funding priorities:
- Innovative NRW (ERDF): supports knowledge transfer and wants to develop innovative ideas and projects. Research and innovation infrastructure are supported in universities and research institutions in cooperation with companies.
- SME friendly NRW (ERDF): helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in the development of digital business models, products, services and production processes.
- Sustainable NRW (ERDF): supports measures to make buildings more energy efficient. Another aim is to promote the transformation of economic activity towards a circular economy. EU-funds also support the preservation, restoration and upgrading of green infrastructures.
- Mobile NRW (ERDF): supports the design and implementation of measures for sustainable mobility in urban areas.
- A life worth living NRW (ERDF): North Rhine-Westphalia has extensive and long-standing experience in sustainable urban development. Projects are aiming at improving public space (streets, paths, squares - including green public space) for the benefit of citizens.
- Sustainable coal regions (JTF): addresses the regions hardest hit by the ongoing lignite phase-out in the Rhenish territory and the recent phased-out of hard coal in the Northern Ruhr area. EU-funds support SMEs in managing their business transformation processes and equip business start-ups and technology centres.
