Description of the funding initiative

The EEA and Norway Grants are composed for two funding schemes. The EEA Grants are funded jointly by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, while the Norway Grants are funded by Norway alone. The EEA Grants are allocated to 15 countries in Europe: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The Norway Grants are applicable to these countries as well, except for Greece and Portugal.

The grants cover several programmes, and three programmes cover the environment, energy, and climate change. The objective of the environment programme is improved environmental status in ecosystems and reduced adverse effects of pollution and other human activities. The objective of the energy programme is less carbon intensive energy and increased security of supply. The objective of the climate change programme is the mitigation of climate change and reduced vulnerability to climate change.

Overview of eligibility requirements for applicants
