Description

The BlueLightS project aims to enhance ocean and water literacy in European Schools. To achieve this, the BlueLightS partners are creating a knowledge base on Blue (school) education, providing support for European Blue Schools, engaging in Blue education Community of Practice, and developing and testing a Blue education framework for national upscaling. 

The BlueLights open call for schools will open in September 2024 and run until the 20th of November 2024.  

Objectives: 

For a project to be eligible under this call, it must: 

  • Promote and contribute to the Mission Ocean and Waters objectives
  • Strengthen the Network of European Blue Schools (NEBS) and meet at least five mandatory criteria of the EU4Ocean Coalition
  • Encourage collaborative learning via eTwinning, fostering intercultural learning and a European dimension. 
  • Engage students, youth, teachers, school leaders, and the wider school community in ocean and water literacy and sustainability efforts.  

Eligible applicants: 

Eligible applicants include public or private schools with legal status and accreditation from the appropriate administrative authority, offering an official curriculum for primary or secondary education (including vocational education and training up to ISCED level 3) within the EU-27 Member States or associated third countries under Horizon Europe.   

Budget: 

Maximum grant per project is EUR 3000.   

Duration:  

Projects must have a duration of two to five months.
