Description

Under Spain’s EMFAF 2021-2027 Programme, the “Aid for the sustainable management of fishing resources” call has been launched for the Basque Country.  

Investments eligible for subsidies are those that aim to develop and introduce methods, technical or organisational knowledge, which reduce the effects of fishing activities on the environment. Specifically,  methods and knowledge that improve fishing techniques and gear selectivity or those that aim to achieve a more sustainable use of marine biological resources and coexistence with protected predators. 

Objectives 

Reduce the impact of fishing on the marine environment, and the impact of protected predators, support the gradual elimination of discards and by-catch and achieve sustainable exploitation of living marine biological resources that allows achieving maximum sustainable yield. 

Eligible applicants:  

Eligible applicants are recognised scientific or technical organisations registered in the Public Registry of Agents of the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation. 

Budget:  

The maximum rate of co-financing from the EMFAF per specific objective shall be 70 % of the eligible public expenditure, with the exception of the specific objective referred to in Article 14(1)(e) of the call document (temporary suspension of fishing activities), for which it shall be 100 %.
