Description

This research article systematically evaluates a spatially explicit ecosystem model designed for the Azores Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), emphasising its crucial role in informing area-based management strategies for the deep-sea. The study employs a comprehensive framework to assess the model's performance, identifying key sensitivities and uncertainties associated with spatial variability in trophodynamics. The systematic approach adopted in the study seeks to be useful in establishing guidelines for the further development of similar models in order to speed-up the operationalisation of models of great potential to inform policy frameworks to achieve the SDGs.
