Description of the funding initiative
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, established in June 2006 by HSH Prince Albert II, is dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development on both a local and global scale. The foundation focuses on major environmental challenges such as combating climate change, managing water resources, combating desertification, and safeguarding biodiversity. It operates through building partnerships, raising awareness about environmental impacts, and promoting innovative solutions by awarding prizes and grants. Active globally, the foundation places special emphasis on targeted areas like the Mediterranean Basin, the Polar Regions, and Least Developed Countries. While the Foundation focuses on a variety of areas related to climate change, water protection is one of its three key pillars.
Initiatives within the Foundation include MedFund, the Monk Seal Alliance, Beyond Plastic Med and DIMFE which contribute to Mission Ocean and Waters objectives.
