Description of the funding initiative
The Novo Nordisk Foundation supports three primary areas:
- Health: focusing on the prevention and management of cardiometabolic and infectious diseases, regenerative medicine, and promoting equitable health outcomes. This includes supporting research on diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases, and improving patient-centric and effective interventions through precision medicine.
- Sustainability: advancing knowledge and solutions for the green transition, emphasizing sustainable agriculture, improved food systems, and climate change mitigation. This involves carbon capture, sustainable crop genetics, data science, ecosystem biology, and reducing post-harvest food waste.
- Life Science Ecosystem: investing in scientific research, education, and innovation, fostering a dynamic environment that promotes fundamental and translational research, technological advancements, and collaborations across academia and industry.
The work supported under the areas of Sustainability and Life Science Ecosystem could positively contribute to Mission Ocean and Waters’ objectives.
