Description
The MarBioME study is a review and appraisal of the status of Marine Biodiversity Monitoring in the European Union and adjacent waters. It establishes definitions of approaches concerning Marine Biodiversity Monitoring and pursues the creation of a database. It also analyses the coverage of Marine Biodiversity Monitoring, provides an overview of current Marine Biodiversity Monitoring methodologies, conducts an examination of data collection frameworks for Marine Biodiversity Monitoring, and offers an overview of research projects on Marine Biodiversity Monitoring. Lastly, it assesses the spatial, temporal, and taxonomic gaps in existing biodiversity monitoring of European seas, as well as gaps in supporting infrastructure, and presents gaps within the research projects.
