Description of the funding initiative

The Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme aims to improve the welfare of citizens in the Black Sea basin regions through sustainable growth and joint environmental protection. The objectives of this Programme are: 

  1. Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities; 
  2. Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention; 
  3. Enhancing protection and preservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure; 
  4. Build up mutual trust, in particular by encouraging people to people actions.  

Overview of eligibility requirements for applicants

Applicants from the following countries and regions are eligible: 

  • Moldova 
  • Armenia 
  • Georgia 
  • Bulgaria: Burgas, Dobrich, Shumen, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Varna, Yambol 
  • Greece: Chalkidiki, Drama, Evros, Imathia, Kilkis, Pella, Piera, Rodopi, Serres, Thasos, Kavala, Thessaloniki, Xanthi 
  • Romania: Brăila, Buzău, Constanța, Galați, Tulcea, Vrancea 
  • Türkiye: Amasya, Artvin, Bartin, Bolu, Çankiri, Çorum, Düzce, Edirne, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Istanbul-II (Anatolia), Karabük, Kastamonu, Kocaeli (İzmit), Ordu, Rize, Sakarya (Adapazari), Samsun, Sinop, Tekirdağ, Tokat, Trabzon, Yalova, Zongudlak 
  • Ukraine: Zaporizhia Oblast, Donetsk Oblast, Kherson Oblast, Mykolaiv Oblast, Odessa Oblast

Rules on co-financing

The programme provides funds of up to 90% of the project cost, therefore applicants need to co-finance the remaining 10%.  

Procedures to submit proposal

Requirements vary according to type of project, and details are available in Application Packs (downloadable as zip files):

All applications need to be made via the Joint electronic monitoring system (Jems).
