Description of the funding initiative
Slovakia's EMFAF program priorities are twofold: Priority 1 focuses on data collection, control (ensuring traceability of fishery and aquaculture products), and the protection and restoration of aquatic biodiversity and ecosystems. Priority 2 targets innovation, diversification, and investments in aquaculture (decarbonization, recirculation systems), processing, marketing, and the establishment of Producer Organizations (POs). Additionally, the program is exploring the use of Financial Instruments (FIs) and has committed 52% of its efforts to climate change initiatives. It emphasizes resilience through shorter supply chains, health improvements, diversification, and energy efficiency. For the green transition, it promotes environmentally sustainable practices, such as organic aquaculture and the use of renewable resources. The digital transition involves enhancing data management and digital skills in the sector. The program aligns with EU priorities like the European Green Deal, Farm to Fork, and Biodiversity strategies.
