Description of the funding initiative

The Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme provides funding for th implementation of large-scale restoration initiatives that restore and harness ecosystem processes, bring back nature to degraded landscapes and seascapes, and revitalise local economies.

The Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme is working to demonstrate and deliver a vision for the future in which landscapes and seascapes:

  • Support viable populations of native species with the capacity for landscape-scale movement.
  • Provide space for the natural functioning of ecological processes.
  • Provide sustainable cultural, social, and economic benefits to people.
  • Are resilient to climate change.

Overview of eligibility requirements for applicants

Proposals should share the vision to restore Europe’s most treasured, but endangered, landscapes. While representing the diversity of Europe’s landscapes, cultures and histories, projects funded by the programme work to create a future where both people and nature can thrive.

The core Programme funding is enabling on-the-ground implementation of large-scale restoration work, the planning of new, innovative restoration initiatives, as well as overcoming barriers to landscape restoration in Europe.

Rules on co-financing
