Description of the funding initiative
The Finnish program of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund finances fisheries development and investment projects that related to sustainable fishing, aquaculture, fish processing and fish trade, as well as environmental measures of fisheries. The fund also finances maritime policy, local development, fisheries control and the fisheries data collection program.
Grants are decided on by “Kalaleader” groups (i.e. local fisheries action groups), according to their own local strategies. These groups also decide on the opening of calls.
