Description of the funding initiative
The Foundation provides financial support for initiatives that contribute to promoting the positive development of the Danish maritime sector, specifically the Danish shipping and/or the Danish shipyard industry, including equipment manufacturers. They focus their activities in five strategic areas, i.e. early stage funding of Innovational maritime commercial projects (typically start-ups), maritime business development, development of maritime education and recruitment initiatives, maritime research and competence building of maritime employees (MBA scholarships).
Overview of eligibility requirements for applicants
Only Danish maritime companies or organisations are eligible for support.
A pipeline of relevant project areas – divided between commercial and non-profit projects – to strengthen long-term growth. For commercial projects, the fund will particularly prioritize "early engagement funding" of start-ups/scale-ups with risk capital, but also focus on co-financing R&D/innovation projects in established companies. Aim to spread funds to more recipients of smaller grants rather than a few larger projects. For non-profit projects, the requirement is that grants must have a clear business-oriented content with a future and business-developing goal.
The Danish Maritime Foundation provides three types of support: loans for business projects, grants for non-profit projects for broad and general knowledge sharing, and MBA grants.
Rules on co-financing
For business projects, the fund provides up to 50% of the budget, early engagement loans/seed funding for Start-ups/scale-ups and co-financing of high-risk R&D/innovation in companies.
