Call for Proposals: Invitation to Associated Regions to Join the OLAMUR Project

Lighthouse

The OLAMUR project consortium has launched a call for associated regions. With the aim of showcasing, the feasibility, replicability and scalability of the innovative solutions developed within the project framework, 5 selected regions will each receive 100 000 € in financial support.

About OLAMUR

OLAMUR, (Offshore Low-trophic Aquaculture in Multi-Use scenario Realisation) is a flagship EU-funded initiative, dedicated to advancing the sustainable blue economy agenda. The project's focal points are three designated case study sites situated in Germany, Denmark, and Estonia. These sites serve as incubators for pioneering multiple-use concepts, such as Low-Trophic Aquaculture (LTA) within offshore wind farms. By harnessing the potential of this innovative marine multi-use approach, the aim is to transition towards a more sustainable and resilient utilisation of marine resources. Moreover, these initiatives are poised to contribute significantly to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and allied global initiatives.

About the call

The primary objective is to equip the chosen Associated Regions with comprehensive technical assistance to devise roadmaps and strategic plans for implementing low-impact marine aquaculture and fostering multi-purpose utilisation of marine spaces. This entails addressing potential barriers and demonstrating the viability of integrating innovative solutions within their respective regions.

Participating regions will have the invaluable opportunity to closely follow the progress of the OLAMUR project and its demonstration activities. The knowledge and outcomes garnered through this initiative will be shared with the Associated Regions, accompanied by tailored technical assistance aimed at building capacity and facilitating the implementation of sustainable marine practices. This collaboration is pivotal in realising the overarching objectives of Mission Ocean, ensuring the preservation and enhancement of our oceanic ecosystems.

The call is targeting local and regional authorities that are outside of the OLAMUR consortium’s current geographic scope. These organisations can apply for funding for activities that focus on sustainable solutions, demonstrating concrete actions in fields such as marine spatial planning or robotics.

Applicants must submit their proposal as a pdf-file by e-mail to the call management (olamur@hi.no) by 31 March 2024
