Description of the funding initiative
The Arcadia Fund focuses on three fund programmes for protecting endangered culture, protecting endangered nature, and promoting open access to information.
The programme to protect endangered nature supports and promotes evidence-based practical solutions to the global biodiversity and climate crises. It supports local partnerships to create sustainable and beneficial outcomes for nature and for the people that depend on it. This grant programme has three focus areas:
- On-site interventions to protect and restore wildlife and landscapes: Grants support work to foster important, biodiversity-rich areas and to rehabilitate degraded but promising landscapes, including collaborative, evidence-led interventions that help build the local community of practice.
- Governance for effective laws and policies: Grants support the development, monitoring and enforcement of governance interventions that help nations and communities to protect and restore biodiversity and landscapes.
- Leadership: Grants ensure that individuals and organizations can implement effective, efficient and science-led interventions, and create networks to share habitat protection and restoration practices globally.
