The launch of the Mutual Learning Exercise (MLE) "Public Engagement in R&I" marks a significant step in advancing policy learning around meaningful public involvement in research and innovation (R&I). This exercise provides a platform for the exchange of experiences and the discussion of best practices,. The ultimate goal is to lead to policy learning facilitating the better integration of public engagement in R&I governance. .
This initiative will build upon the successes of preceding MLEs centred on Citizen Science Initiatives, Foresight, and EU Missions, aiming to broaden the horizon of understanding regarding public participation in R&I.
