A new Mutual Learning Exercise on Bridging the gap between Science and Policy

Science plays a key role in helping policymakers understand and address complex policy challenges. It aids in evaluating policy alternatives and providing evidence-informed solutions. Science for Policy (S4P) involves using the best available scientific evidence, knowledge, and expertise to inform policymaking, enhancing the quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of public policies. This approach is essential for tackling issues like public health, climate change, migration, new technologies, and economic development.

This MLE aims to facilitate the exchange of information, experiences, and lessons learned, and to identify good practices in various national S4P models and approaches. Additionally, it could provide valuable insights for a potential new ERA action on integrating science into policymaking.

  • Topic 1: Foster knowledge sharing within and among the S4P actors and the public.
  • Topic 2: Processes for Science advice to policymakers: framework conditions and skills.
  • Topic 3: Assessing the effectiveness and successful implementation of science advice and incentives for researchers.
  • Topic 4: Reinforcing S4P governance and trust.
