This report examines the principal challenges associated with ensuring a fair and equitable energy transition in the framework of the European Green Deal, with particular attention to affordability, workforce adaptation, and active citizen participation. These challenges are being addressed by several projects financed under the Green Deal Call, which put forward practical, community-driven solutions. In this context, the development of energy communities is identified as a promising approach to strengthening local ownership and fostering citizen involvement in the transition process. The report further emphasises the essential contribution of social innovation and participatory governance, as illustrated by the projects presented, in supporting a just and inclusive energy transition.
