ResearchComp is the European Competence Framework for Researchers. It is a tool that supports researchers to assess and develop their competences across key areas and to foster their career development. It is structured in 7 competence areas and includes 39 competences in total.
The Self-Assessment Tool is an online multiple-choice questionnaire structured following the seven competence areas of ResearchComp. After completing each area, results will provide insights about your strengths and areas to improve.
ResearchComp’s Self-Assessment Tool supports you in assessing your proficiency level in the selected competences and understanding your strengths and potential gaps. It provides structure for career planning and helps you articulate your competences to employers.
Each competence area takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. You can save your progress and return later, as your results will be saved for the successive 10 days. For a comprehensive assessment, we suggest to complete the questionnaire for all 7 competence areas.
You can indicate one or more of the options available for each questions. After completing each competence area, the average score of your response will indicate your proficiency in that particular area. If you select more than one answer, the average score will be retained for the final results.
After completing each competence area, the average score of your response will indicate your proficiency in that particular area. This will be indicated with a percentual score. You will also receive an analysis of your strengths and areas to improve, as well as a breakdown per competence and a spider diagram graphically representing your results.
In the webpage displaying your results, you will have the option of downloading a PDF report summarising your replies to the multiple-choice questions, as well as the results’ summary and the competence breakdown. The PDF will include this information for all the competence areas you have already completed.
The European Commission does not collect, store, or process any personal data in relation to this Self-Assessment Tool. All data will be anonymised and may be used in an aggregated form exclusively for statistical analysis by the Commission.
