Description
The Mission Ocean and Waters funded TASC-RestoreMed acts as a catalyst for a sustainable blue economy in the Mediterranean by combining science, innovation, and community action to restore marine and freshwater ecosystems. The programme provides financial support, capacity building, and a dynamic collaboration network that enables communities, innovators, and policymakers to work together toward a regenerative and resilient Mediterranean.
The project currently has two separate open calls available for applications: Community Led Actions (CLA), and Transition Agendas Development (TAD).
Objectives:
The Community-Led Actions (CLA) call focuses on scaling up and deploying innovative solutions that have moved beyond the piloting stage to demonstrate measurable results for ocean and water restoration in operational environments. These projects must achieve verifiable progress toward Mission Ocean and Waters targets through tangible, on-the-ground interventions with active community engagement and local leadership. A minimum of five projects wil be funded.
The Transition Agenda Development (TAD) call aims to provide concrete support to national, regional and local authorities in Member States and Associated countries in fulfilling EU legislation and regulatory objectives by identifying governance gaps and creating the necessary political and legal environment for long-term sustainability. Each funded TAD project must develop at least one local or regional roadmap that outlines strategies for supporting scale-up, deployment, and legislative adaptation, whilst delivering formal policy recommendations to EU and local authorities for developing legislation that streamlines the uptake of Mission Ocean and Waters-aligned solutions. A minimum of ten projects will be funded.
Eligible applicants:
CLA Eligibility: CLA applicants must form a consortium of minimum two legal entities representing a Mission community, with the consortium functionally including both a Technology/Knowledge/Solution Provider (such as start-ups, SMEs, research organisations, or specialised consulting firms) and a Technology/Knowledge/Solution Adopter (such as regional and local authorities, NGOs, professional associations, locally based companies, or foundations). Full eligibility details and the application process are outlined in the Application Guidelines.
TAD Eligibility: TAD applications may be submitted by individual legal entities or consortia of maximum two legal entities representing a Mission community, including regional and local authorities focused on policy and governance, NGOs focused on policy advocacy, research performing organisations conducting legal harmonisation studies, or associations developing multi-stakeholder dialogue frameworks. Full eligibility details and the application process are outlined in the Application Guidelines.
Mediterranean Basin Requirement: For proposals under either calls with more than one beneficiary, at least one applicant must be legally established in a country belonging to the Mediterranean Sea basin.
TASC-RestoreMed will accept a maximum of one application per applicant per open call.
Budget:
CLA funding support is between EUR 200 000 to EUR 1.4 million per project.
TAD funding support is up to EUR 100 000 per project.
Duration:
Application deadline is 27 May 2026 (17:00 CET). Project duration is up to 24 months for CLA projects and up to 12 months for TAD projects.
