Description
SUNDANSE aims to scale up and replicate innovations for sustainable sediment management in river systems, focusing on addressing flow and sediment alterations in rivers across Europe. The project provides scientific and technical assistance to help regions adopt established sedimentation methodologies within their own distinct geographical and operational contexts.
The project’s call for Associated Regions is now open until 18 February 2026.
Objectives:
This call for Associated Regions aims to fund at least three projects that advance sustainable sediment solutions. The call targets local and/or regional authorities in the Danube region seeking to enhance river sedimentation management through flow monitoring, sediment quantity monitoring, sediment quality assessment and identification of pollution sources, and actions to improve awareness raising on sediment flow alterations.
Eligible applicants:
Applicants must be local/regional authorities from Associated Regions located in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries within the Danube areas, specifically Germany, Slovakia, Moldova, Hungary and Croatia. Countries that are part of the SUNDANSE consortium (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Ireland, Israel, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine) cannot participate.
Budget:
At least three projects will be funded, with grants of up to EUR 100 000 per Associated Region.
Duration:
This SUNDANSE Open call 1 programme has a total duration of 9 months. Further details can be found in Annex 1 (Guide for Applicants) of the call.
