Life Martha has announced an open call for contributions, inviting scientists and managers to take part in their conference on marine sedimentary habitats. Submit your presentation to have the opportunity to present your work in Lille, France!
Marine sedimentary habitats are facing immense pressure, yet they receive little consideration in administrative regulations. To raise awareness and discuss the importance of these habitats, Life Martha is organising an international conference: ‘Marine sedimentary habitats seminar for European Atlantic Biogeographic region’. In light of this event, the project has launched an open call to welcome presentations.
The call is open to scientists and environmental managers working on marine sedimentary habitats in the European Atlantic Biogeographic region (North Sea, Celtic Sea, South European Atlantic Shelf). Presentations from interested parties should focus on the state of marine sedimentary habitats, methods for their monitoring, good management and conservation practices. Presentations are welcome until 15 November 2024 and can be submitted online here.
The conference will bring together scientists, Member State departments and environmental managers to share their knowledge, monitoring and management experience of marine sedimentary habitats. Challenges faced by these habitats and successful results will be discussed during the seminars with input from a wide European marine community. The conference will take place on 12-13 March 2025 in Lille, France. You can learn more about the event here.
Life Martha brings together managers and scientists working at national or regional level to produce knowledge, methods and tools. These include the French Agency for Biodiversity including the UMS Patrinat, the International Center for Research on the Environment and Development (under the main supervision of the CNRS), Ifremer, Réserves naturelles de France, the Gis Posidonie, the Institute of Aquatic Environments and the Tour du Valat.
