Description
The Mission Ocean and Waters funded BlueActionAA supports communities across the Atlantic and Arctic regions to take ambitious action to protect and revive marine and freshwater ecosystems to contribute towards achieving the targets and objectives of the Mission.
The project currently has an open call for Community-Led Pilot Actions.
Objectives:
The Community-Led Pilot Action call focuses on mobilising and engaging communities across the Atlantic and Arctic regions to become active agents of change in ambitious efforts to restore and protect marine and freshwater ecosystems. The call supports the vital role of regional and local communities working together through collective collaboration, driving innovation and facilitating uptake of sustainable practices that create meaningful, long-term environmental impact. A minimum of five projects will be selected for funding.
Eligible applicants:
Applicants must be legally established in EU Member States, EU Overseas Territories, or Horizon Europe Associated Countries (including UK, Norway, Iceland, etc.). They should represent one of five target groups: regional/local public authorities, NGOs/civil society organisations, SMEs/large enterprises, cultural/educational organisations, or research institutions. The consortium coordinator must be based specifically in Atlantic or Arctic basin countries (France, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Faroe Islands, Greenland, or Iceland). Consortia need a minimum of 2 partners from different target groups, with at least one having established links to local/regional communities.

Budget:
Financial support per project is between EUR 200 000 to EUR 2 million per project. Maximum amount granted to a single entity across the current and future calls released by BlueActionAA is EUR 500 000.
Duration:
Application deadline is 29 May 2026 (14:00 CET). Evaluation and selection for applications under the Community Led Pilot Action call are planned for June to September 2026. The planned kick-off date for selected projects is December 2026.
Projects awarded under this call are expected to operate between 6 to 24 months.
