Description
The ANDROMEDA smartphone app leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and image analysis to identify microplastics in photos taken by users. As users upload images of microplastics, the app learns to recognise these particles more accurately over time. By downloading the app, citizens can not only raise their awareness about the growing microplastic issue, but also contribute valuable data to help scientists monitor microplastic pollution across various beaches. This citizen science initiative supports the creation of a European-wide microplastics database, aiding researchers in their efforts to tackle the problem. The ANDROMEDA app is available for free download, offering an easy way for anyone to get involved in the fight against microplastic pollution.
